Plan Your Perfect
Vacation Tan
Answer 5 quick questions to get your personalized prep schedule, product checklist, and aftercare guide before your trip.
How this vacation tan planner works
This tool builds a personalized pre-vacation glow routine based on your trip date, climate, skin tone, desired result, and preferred tanning method. Whether you prefer self-tanner, outdoor tanning, or a combined routine, you get a day-by-day plan with SPF reminders, prep steps, products, and aftercare.
For best results, start your prep at least 7–14 days before departure. Exfoliation, moisturizing, gradual color building, and consistent SPF use make the biggest difference for an even, longer-lasting vacation glow.
Vacation Tan Planner FAQs
How far in advance should I start tanning before vacation?
Ideally 14 days before for a natural tan, or 7 days if using self-tanner. This gives time to prep your skin, apply gradually, and fix any patchiness before you leave.
Should I use self-tanner or sunbathe before vacation?
Self-tanner is a lower-risk and more predictable option because it gives color without UV exposure. You can combine self-tanner with outdoor plans, but SPF is still required because self-tanner does not protect against sun damage.
Do I need to exfoliate before self-tanning?
Yes — always. Exfoliating 24–48 hours before applying self-tanner removes dead skin cells that cause patchiness and fading. The Tree Hut Sugar Scrub works great for this.
Can I use tanning lotion and SPF together?
For outdoor tanning, apply broad-spectrum SPF as directed and do not use tanning products as a substitute for sunscreen. Many accelerators and bronzers do not contain sun protection.
How do I make my tan last after vacation?
Moisturize daily with a tan extender like Jergens Natural Glow, avoid long hot baths, and exfoliate gently and evenly when the tan starts to fade.
